My name is Bobby Suetsugu, I'm a first generation Japanese-American, former world-class sumo wrestler, and sushi master. I’ve been making sushi for over 40 years.

As a young sumo wrestler, weighing in at 350 pounds, I was an expert at eating sushi but I didn’t know a thing about making it. When I retired from wrestling, I began traveling around Japan, apprenticing and working under the country’s master sushi chefs.

Since then, I’ve been head chef at a dozen restaurants, written a sushi cookbook, owned my own restaurant, and led both online and in-person sushi courses to share my passion and expertise.
In a world full of noise and obsession with the next best thing, I choose to share the value of simple, quality ingredients prepared with attention and care.

Whether you enroll in the online Samurai Sushi program, come to one of my in-person classes in the Seattle Area, or hire me for a private event, I'll show you, step by step, the sushi making process and explain the tools, ingredients, and techniques I've been using to make perfect sushi throughout my career.
